Theory

The Theory label is reserved for general theoretical information about conscientious consuming. It is always necessary to be conscious of what we are doing. Theory provides answers to the background question "why?" This label is the foundation for the entire Buyer´s Guide, but apart from that it will remain relatively separate from the Guide itself. An example of a Theory post is Commodity Fetishism.

All Theory posts are found within the Theory label.

Product

Product is the division for actual products in the Buyer´s Guide. Whereas Category, Store, and Type are the backbone of the Guide, Product is where the majority of the specific information will go. The Product label will be for specific products that are judged worthy for the Buyer´s Guide given that they fit within the range of conscientious consuming. Since there is a Type division for types of products, Product is reserved for things like Naked Juice. Attached to this product will be the Type (Beverages), the Store (Dillons, People's Grocery, Wal-Mart), and the Category (Organic, Natural). Product posts ideally can contain pictures and links to more information about the product or product line.

All Product posts are found within the Product label and their title is prefaced with "Product: "

Type of Product

Type of Product is one of the three main divisions in the Buyer´s Guide. The other two main divisions are Category and Store. It is set up this way to properly address the different products and ways of outlining what it practically means to consume conscientiously. Briefly, a Type of Product is a lumping of like products that might be found in the same Store and with the same Category. A Category is a classification or certification of a specific product. Lastly, a Store is a specific place, corporation, or shop in which products may be obtained. This means that any given product when entered into the Buyer´s Guide will have at least one Category, Store, and Type of Product to describe it. This makes the merits of any given product implicitly known.

With this setup the Guide can provide information about the multiple levels that conscientious consuming operates on. It provides general information about stores and their practices as businesses. It provides general information about groupings or types of products. And, it provides general information about categories to be looking for in products.
